How do I refer my client for an evaluation?

If your client needs a psychosocial evaluation for their immigration case, we offer detailed, unbiased, research-based reports. Since 2014, we’ve specialized in assessments such as Hardship Waivers, Cancellation of Removal, Adjustment of Status, VAWA, U-Visas, T-Visas, Asylum, Matter-of-MAM, and more for clients who are located in NY, NJ, TX, FL, MA, AZ, Puerto Rico, or Mexico (More states to come in the near future as we are pending membership in the Counseling Compact, which will allow us to serve clients who reside in a State that has entered this Compact!)
Flexible payment options available. Our bilingual team is fluent in English and Spanish. We can also facilitate evaluations in other languages by using interpreters.
Our Clinical Director holds the Diagnostic Privilege in New York, effective June 24, 2024, allowing us to independently diagnose mental, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and addictive disorders. Without this Diagnostic Privilege, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) cannot provide a formal diagnosis, which could present significant challenges, especially in immigration court cases.
All evaluations are performed in an objective and unbiased manner and are not intended to support or influence any specific outcome in an immigration case. No guarantees are made regarding case results; rather, each evaluation reflects an expert clinical assessment grounded in psychosocial history, observed symptoms, and relevant research and factual data.
Option 1: Complete our online referral form with your client's information. We will contact them to discuss the process, costs, and appointment availability. We will keep you informed about the referral status.
Option 2: Provide your client with our contact information. They can call us at 347-696-6968 or email info@discoverymhc.com. We are available Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 8 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Clients can leave a message on our HIPAA-compliant voicemail if necessary.
Option 3: Email us with your client's name, phone number, the type of evaluation needed, and any deadlines for the evaluation (info@discoverymhc.com). We will contact them to explain the process, costs, and availability and will keep you updated on the referral status.
What is the evaluation process?
Our bilingual team, fluent in English and Spanish, ensures clear communication. Once clients agree to proceed, they complete consent forms and receive appointment dates.
The initial sessions focus on information gathering and psychosocial history. If additional details or documents are required, follow-up appointments are scheduled.
During the final sessions, the evaluation is reviewed, diagnoses (if any) are explained, and tailored recommendations are provided. We submit the final report to the attorney after the evaluation is complete and all client payments have been processed.

If you require virtual testimony for the client’s court date, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can reserve the date and schedule a review session if needed.
Affordable Options and Flexible Payment Plans

For clients who need flexibility with report deadlines, we offer payment plans. We offer any available discounts during the initial call.
We also offer a CarePass program, which offers a pro bono evaluation once per year per firm or organization, and a sliding scale for clients receiving low-bono or pro bono services from their attorneys. If you believe your client may benefit from this sliding scale, please let us know what financial assistance options you are currently offering them. We will make every effort to work within those parameters.
