Motivational Interviewing
What is Motivational Interviewing?
According to the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) is “a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.”
Discovery Mental Health Counseling is proud to have Ricardo Despradel, LMHC, who is one of our Clinical Supervisors and a member of MINT, providing classes and consultation services for clinicians of all levels looking to learn or improve upon their Motivational Interviewing Techniques.
